A SHORT MESSAGE FROM CARLOS BATARA

Hi, I'm an immigration lawyer.  That's my day job.

So if you want to improve your chances for your success - book a 30-minute personalized planning and strategy session with me.

I promise you won't regret it.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT CARLOS

“Thank you for looking at me as a person and not as another case. You always made me feel that what was happening to me mattered to you as well.”

- Juan Herrera, Lake Elsinore, California

“After talking to five different attorneys, I knew Mr. Batara was the one for me. He was the only one who made me feel secure.

I like the way Mr. Batara is detailed oriented. From the start, he was very serious about my case and I knew, after looking at the final packet he prepared for me, he did his very best for me.

He approached this situation like I would have, piece by piece, as if he were putting together a puzzle.

Not only was the package sent off to Immigration officials in a professional manner, he did everything in under a week for me. I had a deadline, and Mr. Batara met it, making my life easier and I was stress free the whole time.

I would recommend Mr. Batara to anyone who needs immigration help. He made me feel like I trusted the right person with a very important life decision. I feel like I got his best, and that, to me, says a lot.”

“Carlos and all his team did a brilliant job on our I-601 waiver. We tried to do it with a law firm in Philadelphia but all 4 years we were just going in circles. They were lying to me about their I-601 waiver experience in order to get one more client. So we just wasted our time and money, some of which they gave back to us.

From our first conversation with Carlos I noticed that he knows much more than I would imagine, even though I spend last 4 years studying this process. His questions where unusual but they had very deep meaning and common sense. Also he finds out that I have much more grounds for our I-601 waiver and a lot of supporting circumstances that definitely helped us to win the case. Overall all the preparation, building the case and USCIS processing time took around 7 months until we get an approval notice.

I just want to say thank you so much from all of my family to the Carlos and all his warm and friendly team !!!”

-- Roman Selyuzhytskyy, Schuylkill Haven, Pennslyvania

“Thank You Sooooo Much Carlos!!!

My Family Thanks You!!!

I thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into my case. I will forever be grateful for all the encouragement you gave me and my family.

Thank you for looking at me as a person and not as another case. You have what other lawyers lack – which is passion and compassion. You have the passion that it takes to win a case, to find the best angles to fight a case.

You always made me feel that what was happening to me mattered to you as well, and this showed me that you had compassion towards me and my family.

You have heart, real heart. You care about your clients. It’s clear to me that your heart is what makes the difference between you and other lawyers.

Thank you forever Carlos!!!”

“My husband and I started the process for his permanent residency in 2013. We received our first denial along with a deportation notice months later. We decided to go through a local immigration attorney. At the time we were in a severe time crunch. The appeal was denied and my husband faced deportation for the second time.

Luckily, we had been researching a few months before this happened and found Carlos Batara. I immediately made an appointment for a consultation. He asked us to send him copies of the documents we filed and the two denials.

One day later we talked again. Carlos explained what was going on in our case. He said that he wanted to make sure we understood how hard it is to win these types of appeals. He told us what he thought needed to be done to overcome the denial. He said it would be a lot of work on our part. He did not promise we would win. However Carlos was confident there were good points in our favor.

We had to move fast and immediately started working on our case. We were in constant contact with one another getting all of the necessary documents together. Carlos was sure to cover all of the bases and not miss a step to give the government a chance to try to deny our appeal again.

After months of waiting for the decision, I am proud to say my husband was finally approved for his permanent residency! I am certain without the hard work of Carlos Batara, our appeal would not have been successful. He saved my family, and most importantly, he saved our little girl’s father from being taken from her.

I am so very thankful that we found Carlos Batara. He is definitely a godsend and is very knowledgeable. I cannot thank him enough!”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Batara.

You were so helpful when my husband and I needed you. It is impossible to say how grateful we are. We’re still amazed you took our case way over in Alaska and traveled here to assist me in immigration court.

We did not plan to hire anyone from California. But as you know, no one here would take our case. We were told there might be one way to win, but the law was still too new and iffy. We feel fortunate one attorney told us that you might know how to handle this type of case. I don’t think he believed you would go back and forth to help us.

We didn’t either. But you did.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Does Your Remote And Online Immigration Services Work? +

Our online services deliver all the benefits of regular immigration services, while leveraging easy-to-use technology. Our goal is to make immigration cases as stress-free and efficient as possible.

You probably already use technology in your everyday life to make things easier. You make telephone calls and send text messages, write and respond to e-mails, pay bills, and surf the web from just about anywhere in the world.

In constructing our system, we wanted to create one that allows clients with the same ease of use and flexibility.

Our remote system has benefitted from several years of technological improvement. We designed our online services two decades ago, during the early days of the internet, to help our clients living in countries across the globe.

Since then technology has continued to get better, as has our ability to help our clients on a virtual basis.

Every client is given access to our complete suite of remote services.

These include video-conferencing for two or more persons, private file and email portals accessible only to our clients and staff, and messaging set-ups that utilize modernized communication programs to ensure our office is promptly notified.

Do I Really Need To Hire An Attorney? +

This is a hard question to answer. The answer is maybe, maybe not. It depends on the facts of your case and your understanding of the immigration system. You should think carefully about possible issues you might face on the road to permanent residency or citizenship.

Sometimes, potential problems that seem small to clients are far more serious to government officials.

If you know enough about immigration law to defend yourself and avoid mistakes, you may not need to hire a lawyer.

Since losing can mean being deported from the U.S. and separation from your spouse and family, helping yourself is not a risk you should take lightly.

Be honest with yourself about your abilities and knowledge when you decide to hire someone or not.

In many ways, hiring a lawyer is similar to hiring any other service provider.

  • Why do you take your car to an auto mechanic? Because you do not know how to fix the problem with your car and you need your car to go to work or school.
  • Why do you go to a hair cut salon? Because you want your hair to be styled a certain way and you cannot reach that goal on your own.
  • Why do you seek the help of a heart surgeon? Because you are facing a major life or death situation. You need an expert to keep your heart beating.

These situations are like going to an immigration lawyer. You may be facing deportation or you might just want to legalize your status, so you can live freely in the United States. But you are not capable of representing yourself.

In other words, if you cannot handle your case on your own, and the outcome of your case is important to you, you probably need an immigration lawyer.

Can You Guarantee That I Will Win My Case? +

No, I cannot guarantee you will win your case. But I will tell you this. I refuse to take a cookie-cutter approach to your case.

At our first meeting, I will dive into the ins and outs of your situation, and provide you with my opinion about the obstacles you might have to face. I will explain potential courses of action.

When it comes to deciding what steps to take, you and I will reach that conclusion together. I cannot guarantee the final result. I will not make false promises.

If I cannot help you, I will let you know right at the start.

Once I accept your case, it’s based on my belief that I can make a positive difference in helping you and your family reach your immigration goals.

What Experience Do You Have Handling Cases Like Mine? +

Without a personalized consultation, I cannot answer this question.

Moreover, because no two cases are exactly alike, your case is different in some aspects than any other case that I have ever handled. Some cases may be 70%, maybe 80% similar to other cases, but your case has unique facts specific only to you and your family. That’s why taking cookie-cutter approaches to immigration law are wrong.

Even small differences between two cases, although they may seem insignificant, can lead to vastly different outcomes.

As an attorney who has practiced immigration law for over 20 years and helped immigrants from more than 125 countries, I’ve been fortunate to handle a wide range of legal challenges involving immigrant visas, permanent residency, citizenship, and deportation issues.

Coupled with my training at Harvard Law School, I’ve learned good lawyering requires not only perseverance but also purposefulness, not only compassion but also commitment.

Based on these experiences, even though I have not handled a case exactly like yours, I am confident if I can perceive legal options to win your case, I can structure solutions to improve your chances for immigration success.

What Happens If You Cannot Help Me? +

To help you, I need to know as much as possible about your immigration case. This is why I always recommend an initial interview. I need to know your dreams, goals, issues, and obstacles.

And, as I noted above, if I cannot help you, I will you let you know as soon as I know.

Usually, I will know by our first get-together, in person, over the telephone, or via video, if I can help you or not.

But sometimes, at the end of our initial session, I will not know if I can help you or not. At this point, I may need to do extra research, talk to family members, or help obtain your immigration records.

After these actions are taken, I will have a clearer picture of your case. Then I can explain why we can or cannot help you in more detail.

In some cases, what looks to you like you have no chance for success at the outset is actually the opposite.

If I have any doubts about your case, good or bad, I will not give you a firm answer whether you can or you cannot go forward without problems.

Even if other lawyers told you that you there is no hope. I will not accept their opinions at face value. I do not assume their level of experience or knowledge.

To provide my best advice for clients, I insist on doing my own evaluation, especially with tough cases. I will, however, take others’ opinions into consideration.

In the end, even if you have already lost your case, I may uncover a path to getting your case reopened or filing an appeal that challenges the earlier decision.

How Do You Work With Clients Who Are Not Technologically Sophisticated? +

Even though we provide online services using client-friendly technology, our support and assistance does not end there. You have the personal guidance of our staff available to you, just a phone call or e-mail away.

In short, we are not a “Do It By Yourself” service. We work with clients from all over the world. Some are not familiar with modern technology. Some do not have easy access to computers or internet service companies.

Most online service providers focus on filling out forms. They usually require you to go to a website where you input answers to a handful of questions. Then they generate an application for you. Often, the only help you get is through internet assistance – even when that is the weakness you need to overcome.

Our hands-on online services are vastly different. With our virtual online program, we do not simply send you to a website and leave you to figure out your issues on your own with no help or guidance. Your case is assigned to a staff assistant who will be your personal guide. We are there every step of the way, from start to finish.

We still use the telephone to help clients. We use both regular mail services and online email services to send documents back and forth. We also have our video conference set-up, which is simpler to use than the ones you typically find on the internet. We will figure out how to make working together as smooth as possible.

In other words, no matter your level of computer and internet knowledge, we will not leave any stone unturned in our efforts to help you put your best foot forward.

How Much Are Your Fees For Handling My Type Of Case? +

Almost from the beginning, most clients have thoughts like, "What will you charge to help my husband get a green card?” Or “How much will it cost to fight my father’s deportation case at immigration court?”

I understand your concerns. But I suggest slowing down for a moment. You’re jumping the gun. Even though all clients worry about how much legal help will cost, I don’t think this is the best way to start your case.

Instead, I feel the first question you should ask is, “What do I need to do for me, my family, and children to live together legally in the United States?”

In my view, far too many people make their immigration hiring decisions based on what it’s going to cost. Sometimes, that may be the right criteria. Most of the time, it’s not.

The problem is you don’t know what you don’t know. And because you don't know, I don't know.

When you first call, the reality is that I do not know anything about what it will take to win.

Because no two cases are exactly alike, it’s unfair to your family and it’s unfair to my office to base fees on guessing.

I need to sit down with you (via video, by telephone, or in-person) to learn more about your immigration history and personal circumstances. This enables me to give you honest and genuine advice about what can help and what can hurt your efforts to win or maintain lawful immigration status in the United States.

Winning requires providing you with the best possible analysis from the beginning of our relationship.

After my assessment, I can tell you what I will charge for my advice, counsel, and support.

I cannot determine this amount until we have a full-fledged consultation, a private in-depth personalized 1-on-1 strategy and planning discussion.
